• 1983

  A Family Business

  Established in 1983 by Tony Foster, A1 Pool Tables Direct Limited started trading under the name of A1 Pool Table Recovering and Valeting Services. A small family business with humble beginnings, with its reputation for quality service at its heart.

  Noting a gap in the market at the inception of the business, Tony liaised with local public houses and breweries in the Yorkshire and surrounding area, to secure contracts to supply and maintain pool tables (and other leisure equipment). Until this time, it was not uncommon for pool tables to be unkept and damaged. It really did spoil the game.

• 1985

  Working locally and nationally

  By 1985, A1 Pool Table Recovering and Valeting Services as it then was, came to the attention of Wolverhampton and Dudley otherwise now known as Marston’s Brewery.

  We continue to work with “Marstons”, as we like to call it, to this very day. You will also find us with Enterprise Inns, Admiral Taverns, Samuel Smith’s and other independent businesses.

• 2011

  A brand identity refresh

  In 2011, A1 Pool Table Recovering and Valeting Services was renamed to A1 Pool Tables Direct, a shot into the future and a break away from the business’ 80’s origins whilst retaining its identity. Indeed, many of our loyal customers simply refer to us as “A1 Pool”.

  2011 also saw the business becoming a truly family affair with the addition of Stephen Foster, Tony’s son.

• 2017

  Ready for the future

  With the incorporation of the business in 2017, Limited was added to the end of its name making A1 Pool Tables Direct Limited, where we find ourselves today. Again being true to the business’ origins and identity, we were eager to ensure we were continued to be known as “A1 Pool” moving forwards. After all A1 by name, A1 by nature.
